Computer safety is an important issue that affects everyone who uses a computer. With the increasing amount of time people spend online, it’s crucial to ensure that their personal information and privacy are protected. A Computer Safety Survey conducted by SurveyInsiders received responses from 500 individuals across different age groups and demographics. The results showed that the majority of respondents were aware of the importance of computer safety, with 80% of them reporting that they took steps to protect their computers and personal information. However, there were still some areas where respondents showed a lack of knowledge and concern.

One of the questions in the poll asked about the use of anti-virus software. It was found that 70% of respondents used some form of anti-virus software on their computers. However, when asked about how often they updated their anti-virus software, only 50% of respondents reported that they updated it regularly. This indicates that while people are aware of the importance of using anti-virus software, they may not be aware of the need for regular updates.

Another question asked about the use of strong passwords. It was found that 60% of respondents reported using strong passwords for their accounts. However, when asked about the frequency of changing their passwords, only 40% of respondents reported changing their passwords regularly. This shows that people may not be aware of the need to change their passwords frequently to prevent hacking attempts.

One area where respondents showed a lack of knowledge was in the use of virtual private networks (VPNs). When asked about their use of VPNs, only 20% of respondents reported using them. This indicates that people may not be aware of the benefits of using a VPN, such as protecting their online activity and personal information from hackers and monitoring by internet service providers.

The poll also asked about people’s awareness of phishing scams. It was found that 80% of respondents were aware of phishing scams and knew how to identify them. However, when asked about the frequency of encountering phishing scams, 30% of respondents reported encountering them at least once a month. This shows that while people may be aware of phishing scams, they may still fall victim to them.

Overall, the results of the poll show that while people are generally aware of the importance of computer safety, there are still areas where more knowledge and action is needed. Regular updates of anti-virus software and frequent changes of passwords are essential to protect personal information and prevent hacking attempts. The use of VPNs is also important to protect online activity and personal information from hackers and monitoring by internet service providers. It’s crucial for everyone who uses a computer to be aware of these issues and take steps to protect themselves.
